AIR Institute welcomes the University of Linz (Austria) during its visit to Salamanca as an alliance of EC2U universities

This week we have had the opportunity to welcome representatives of the Johannes Kepler University of Linz (Austria) at the AIR Institute facilities in Salamanca, during their visit to the city to complete their process of incorporation into the EC2U alliance of universities.  The initiative is carried out in the framework of the "Fast Track to Integration", which enables an adequate institutional adaptation of the universities that decide to join the European alliance initiative.

The technical and research staff of the Austrian university held working meetings with professors and researchers from the University of Salamanca to formalise the launch of the consolidation phase of the alliance, which is scheduled to last until 2027. In addition to visiting several technological centres and centres of interest for the alliance.

The European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) alliance was created in 2020 with the aim of creating a pan-European university campus in the framework of the "European Universities Initiative" promoted by the European Commission through the Directorate-General for Education to strengthen strategic partnerships across the EU between higher education institutions and to foster the emergence of university networks that will enable students to obtain a degree by combining studies in several countries, contributing to the international competitiveness of European universities.

The European Campus of City-University (EC2U) initiative brings together eight historic universities and university cities that share a strong international vocation.  In addition to the University of Salamanca and Linz, the alliance also includes: the University of Coimbra (Portugal), the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași (Romania), the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (Germany), the University of Poitiers (France), the University of Pavia (Italy) and the University of Turku (Finland).
